What is the Address of My PCI-485/PXI-485 Card?

Hardware: Serial>>RS-485

Problem:
I have a serial 485 card. There is no documentation stating its address or how to change it. What is the address of my 485 ports?

Solution:
In 485 communication, there is a transmit, receive, and several handshaking lines. There are no addressing lines. When the controller sends data across the 485 bus, all the instruments will receive this data. Your data that is transmitted may contain what your instrument calls an address, but the devices will interpret this however they are programmed or designed. Therefore your serial 485 card can have any address you would like to assign to it, just make sure the software you write or use is designed to behave accordingly.
