Why Do the Beats Per Minute (BPM) in BioBench Appear to Be Too High?

Problem: Why do the beats per minute (BPM) in BioBench appear to be too high? I am replaying a BioBench file that I created previously that seemed to display BPM correctly. I am looking at BPM values for Trending in the Acquisition view in BioBench.

Solution: This problem could deal with sample rate. For example, if you sampled the file at 100 samples/sec and are playing the file back at 200 samples/sec, the BPM that will be displayed in BioBench Trending will be twice the value that you should see. The same could be true if you sampled the file at a faster rate than you are playing it back, in which the BPM values that you see would be less than you would expect. To change your Sample Rate in BioBench, select Configure > Settings and choose the appropriate sample rate that you used to acquire the file you are playing back. You may also see this issue with some of the example files that ship with BioBench.

One other thing to look at would be the various trend parameters involved in trending. You can find more information on trend parameters on page 3-7 of the BioBench User Manual.
