Connecting an NI Ethernet-Configurable Device to a Wi-Fi Enabled LaptopHardware: FieldPoint>>Controllers/Network Modules, PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers, GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-ENET, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>GPIB-ENET/100
Problem: I'm having difficulty connecting to my NI ethernet-configurable device (FieldPoint, PXI controller, ENET, etc.) with my Wi-Fi enabled laptop. How do I access this instrument? Solution: A common problem with laptops and ethernet devices is that MAX will use the default Windows network connection to search for devices. If the wireless connection is selected as the default, it will search this network and depending on the network topology, it is likely that it will not find the device. This can be fixed by temporarily disabling the Wi-Fi connection while searching. Once MAX finds the device, the connection can be re-enabled.
