How Do I Make a Null Modem Ethernet Cable? Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-ENET
Problem: How do I make a Null Modem (commonly known as a Cross Over) ethernet cable for use with a GPIB-ENET on a local machine (i.e., not on a network)? Solution: The pins of the null modem cable are mostly one to one, except for the Transmit (TXD+/-) and Receive (RXD+/-) lines. Switch pin 1 on one end with pin 3 of the other, and vice versa Switch pin 2 on one end with pin 6 of the other, and vice versa If you look at the ethernet socket and are facing the base of the socket (the locking pin is away from you, and the base is towards you), pin number 1 is towards the left.
