Remote Front Panel Appears as HTML Code in Internet Explorer

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Professional Development System
Primary Software Version: 8.5.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Base Package, LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Full Development System

Problem:
I am trying to access a remote front panel using Internet Explorer 7.0. However, when I navigate to the appropriate HTML page, it appears as HTML code rather than as the remote front panel. Why does the front panel appear as HTML, and how can I display it correctly?

Solution:
Internet Explorer 7.0 has three default security levels for the Internet zone: High, Medium-high, and Medium, which restrict access for specific plug-ins according to the applied level. Additionally, you can specify custom security settings. If the Internet Explorer security level is High, or if you apply custom security settings, the remote front panel appears as HTML code because of this restriction on communication. To display the remote front panel correctly, configure the Internet zone security settings to the defaults and lower the security level, if necessary.

Complete the following steps to change the security settings in Internet Explorer 7.0.

  1. Select Tools»Internet Options and click the Security tab.
  2. Select the Internet icon in the Select a zone to view or change security settings section.
  3. Click the Reset all zones to default level button to remove any custom security settings in place. If the applied security level is already the default level, Internet Explorer disables the button.
  4. Ensure that the slider in the Security level for this zone section is not at High. If necessary, move the slider down to at least the Medium-high setting.
  5. Relaunch Internet Explorer and navigate to the remote front panel, which should display correctly.
