Multiple LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.2 Entries in the TestStand Deployment Utility

Primary Software: TestStand
Primary Software Version: 4.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>DesignSuite

Problem:
I am building a TestStand deployment and when I select which drivers and components to add to the installer, there are two entries for NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.2 in the list of components to include. If I build a deployment that includes the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine as well as LabVIEW DSC (LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module) my deployment is built successfully but when I run the installer it fails during initialization.

Why do I see two entries for the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, and how to I resolve this?

Solution:
It is likely that you have installed the NI Circuit Design Suite 10.0.1 on your machine in addition to having the LabVIEW 8.2 Run-Time Engine installed.

The cause of the duplicate entries comes from the NI Circuit Design Suite 10.0.1 installing a slightly different version of the 8.2 Run-Time Engine.  This new version has the same product code as the original 8.2 Run-Time Engine which causes two entries for the LabVIEW 8.2 Run-Time Engine to appear in the deployment utility when choosing the components to include.

This is a known issue with the Circuit Design Suite 10.0.1, of which National Instruments R&D is aware. The attached executable repairs the Run-Time Engine, and will put your system back into the correct state.

Downloading and running this executable should fix the problems described above.
