How Do I Set LabVIEW Preferences For a Mac OS Executable?

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 7.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>LabVIEW Application Builder, LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Professional Development System, LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Base Package

Problem:
Stand-alone executables do not automatically use the preferences set in LabVIEW. How do I manually set the preferences?

Solution:
Preferences for the LabVIEW development environment are stored in a preferences file. The settings in the preferences file affect many properties of the executable including fonts, thread configuration, front panel settings (such as smooth updates for indicators), and VISA settings (synchronous vs. asynchronous). Preferences for stand-alone executables created in LabVIEW can be set by creating a new preferences file with the same name as the executable. To set LabVIEW preferences for a stand-alone executable, complete the following steps:
  1. Build the executable (YourApp.app).
  2. Run the executable. The first time the executable is run, it creates a preferences file of the same name as the executable (YourApp preferences) in the preferences folder.
  3. Edit the YourApp preferences file to alter settings.
For distribution, create a preferences file on the build machine, include it in the distribution, and instruct the end user to copy the preferences file to their preferences folder.

To set the font size/type in an executable preference file, you will need to use the "appFont" command (use the LabVIEW preferences file as an example).
