What Does the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine Install for DataSocket Support? Primary Software: Other NI Software>>DataSocketPrimary Software Version: 4.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I am creating an executable for distribution that includes DataSocket technology. What functionality is the end user going to have, as far as DataSocket is concerned, if they only have the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine installed? Will they be able to run the DataSocket Server on their machine? Will they be able to set permissions? Solution: The LabVIEW Run-Time Engine installs all of the necessary DataSocket components to run executables using DataSocket technology. Furthermore, the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine also installs the DataSocket Server and DataSocket Server Manager, as shown below: The DataSocket Server allows an end-user to run the DataSocket Server on their computer. The DataSocket Manager allows whoever is running the DataSocket Server to set permissions and configurations for the Server, such as read/write permissions and connection configurations. For more information on the DataSocket Server and DataSocket Server Manager, please refer to the NI DataSocket Server Help file ( nidss.chm) that can be found in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\DataSocket\Help directory.Related Links: KnowledgeBase 399MDV0U: How Can I Install the Latest Version of DataSocket and DataSocket Server?
