Creating the IVI-Compliant Specific Driver InstallerPrimary Software: Instrument Drivers/IVI>>IVI Compliance PackagePrimary Software Version: 2.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabWindows/CVI Development Systems>>Base Package, LabWindows/CVI Development Systems>>Full Development System
Problem: I have developed an IVI specific driver, and now I would like to create an IVI-compliant installer for it so that the software module information shows up in MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer). Solution: The Create Distribution Kit in LabWindows/CVI does not register your driver in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). National Instruments has developed a tool, IVI Installer Creator, which is included in the LabWindows/CVI 8.0 distribution. Once you have installed LabWindows/CVI 8.0 with IVI tools, you can access the IVI Installer Creator from the Tools menu in LabWindows/CVI. The IVI Installer Creator tool is designed to take you through the necessary steps to create a compliant IVI installer for an IVI-C specific instrument driver. The installers developed using this tool write directly to the IVI Configuration Store XML file (so the software module and all other information shows up automatically in MAX), and also installs the driver files in the IVI directory.
