Problem: After installing DAQ software, connecting my DAQ hardware and restarting my computer, I receive
Error nidevmon.exe, and my computer crashes to a blue screen. What can I do to eliminate this error?
Solution: Here are some possible solutions:
- Ensure driver software was installed prior to installing the hardware.
- Unblock NI programs and products, including Device Monitor, in your firewall/anti-virus software.
- Disable the NI Device Monitor. Right-click the Device Monitor Icon in the system tray and de-select the Run at Startup option. If the icon does not appear, navigate to
National Instruments»NI-DAQ»Device Monitor. Disable NI Device Monitor as stated above.
- Ensure your Windows install has the latest Microsoft fixes, patches, etc.
- Ensure your BIOS is up to date. Refer to your computer manufacturer for information on your BIOS and on upgrades.
- Repair the NI-DAQ drivers in the Add/Remove programs applet.
- As a last resort, uninstall the NI-DAQ driver and reinstall from CD or Online. The best option is to use the online driver in the event that the driver CD is corrupt.
