How Can I View My FieldPoint OPC Server On a Remote Computer?

Hardware: FieldPoint

Problem: I have a FieldPoint controller with a built in OPC server. I can see the OPC server and tags on my PC, but not on another remote PC.

Solution:

In order to view the OPC server, install the FieldPoint drivers on the remote machine. In Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX):

  1. Right-click on Remote Systems
  2. Select Create New...
  3. Select FieldPoint Ethernet and click Next
  4. Enter the IP address of you controller
  5. Ensure that the Automatically find devices box is checked
  6. Click Finish
  7. Exit out of MAX and save the .iak file if prompted

The FieldPoint controller's OPC server will now be registered and visible on this machine

You can verify that the OPC server is registered by viewing the FieldPoint tags using Server Explorer or another OPC client package.
