Why is my GPIB-PCII/IIA Locking up my Windows 95 Computer?

Hardware: GPIB

Problem: My GPIB-PCII/IIA is locking up my computer in Windows 95. I have version 1.2 of NI-488.2M Software for Windows 95.

Solution: Be sure the use the GPIB-PCII/IIA interface in PCII mode not PCIIA mode with version 1.2 of NI-488.2M Software for Windows 95.

There is a problem in the Windows 95 Device Manager which adversely affects support of the GPIB-PCIIA under Windows 95. (The GPIB-PCII and all other GPIB hardware are not affected by this problem.) The result is the potential for hidden base address conflicts between the GPIB-PCIIA and other hardware in the system. Conflicts such as these can cause the computer to lock up. Thus, we recommend NOT using the GPIB-PCIIA under Windows 95, but to instead change the mode of the interface to PCII mode.
