USB-232/4 Loses Ports In Measurement & Automation Explorer Hardware: Instrument Connectivity Other>>USB>>USB-232/4
Problem: After running my program for a while, my USB-232/4 loses some of its ports in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). Why is this happening? Solution: One reason for loss of ports is from voltage spikes or over-voltage. An over-voltage will cause a port, or possibly the entire hub, to shut down. This will require unplugging and powering off the hub, and then plugging the USB port back in and powering the hub back on. Occasionally, the computer will need to be restarted for it to recognize the hub again. Also make sure to plug in the USB to a connection port in the back of your computer. This is better than connecting it to a front port because the rear connections are typically directly connected to the motherboard. If you are using TestStand for doing multiple tests, make sure any tests that may cause your device to have a voltage spike come before your LabVIEW VI runs and uses the RS-232 ports.
