How Do I Deactivate or Remove my License for an NI Product? Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI License ManagerPrimary Software Version: 3.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: How do I deactivate, remove, or disable my license for an NI product? I want to use the license somewhere else or just remove the license. Solution: You are not required to notify National instruments when you deactivate a product. NI does not allow or disallow future activations dependent upon a previous deactivation. If you have a product which does not need to be activated anymore (for example, you are going to move the license to another computer or inadvertently activated the product and do not want that product to be activated any longer), you can deactivate a license from NI License Manager. Go to Start » Programs » National Instruments » NI License Manager. Right-click on the activated product that you want to deactivate and choose Deactivate. This will revert the product to an unactivated state. To use the product again, you must first reactivate the product. If the product is using a disconnected license generated by NI Volume License Manager, one can deactivate the license by right-clicking the product and select Uninstall License File. The caveat is that other products using the disconnected license will be deactivated as well. One must generate a new disconnected license file from the Volume License Manager server. Deactivation is only available in NI License Manager 3.1 and higher. If you do not have this version of NI License Manager, as an alternative to deactivating from NI License Manager, you can simply delete the activated license file. NI license files are stored in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\Licenses directory. If you delete a license file and then in the future need to activate and use the product again, you can download the default license files from ni.com/downloads. License files are stored by product and version.Related Links: KnowledgeBase 3WRI9UPZ: Deactivating a National Instruments License KnowledgeBase 3PPDROEQ: What is a Disconnected License File?
