Why Do I Have Data Gaps in My Citadel 5 Database?

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 7.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

There are missing portions of data in some or all of my traces in my Citadel database. Why do these gaps exist in my database?

There are several possible reasons for gaps in Citadel database data:
  • DSC tag engine is shutdown or paused while recording data to database
  • Changing computer's system time while recording data to database
  • Logging is disabled on a particular tag or set of tags while recording data to database
  • Tag quality goes from "good" to "bad" while recording data to database (for instance, some OPC servers will set a data member's quality to "bad" when a device loses connection or some other error occurs)
  • Archiving unconnected data sets to the same destination database
  • Database is corrupted (see note below)

Note: A corruption is very rare and is the only one of these reasons that should cause an error (usually error 56) to occur when reading data from the database. The typical reasons for a corruption occurring is when something "catastrophic" happens, such as a power loss, operating system crash, a system shut down, or possibly a poor network connection.
