Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices, Multifunction DAQ (MIO)

Problem: How do I install my DAQ board on Mac OS?

Solution:
  1. Did you install the NI-DAQ driver for your board? If not, please follow this link to install the NI-DAQ drivers

  2. After installing the drivers successfully, power off your computer and plug your board into the appropriate PCI slot of your computer bus

  3. Power on your computer.

  4. Launch the NI DAQ Configuration Utility from the NI DAQ folder chosen during the installation. You should see a window as shown below:

  5. Follow the steps to assign the default configuration of your board.

  6. Under "DAQ Devices" you should see your board listed as shown below:

If you don't see your device listed, please follow this troubleshooting link

  7. Highlight the board by clicking on it and choose "Configure." You will see the window as shown below.

  8. Click on "Test Resources." You will get a message that the board passed the test. If the test fails, please follow this troubleshooting link

  9. Click on "Run Test Panels" to perform simple input/output operations on various channels of your board.

Note: When you write your code using application software and you get bad readings or unexpected values, always run the NI-DAQ Test Panels mentioned in the previous step. This will help you troubleshoot your problem.

  10. Close the NI DAQ Configuration Utility and save your changes. You are now ready to write/run your DAQ application.
