Initializing SB-MXI Using the "vxiint" Command Fails on Solaris 2.x Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>MXI Interfaces>>SB-MXI
Problem: I have just installed NI-VXI 2.2 for Solaris 2.x on my Solaris 8 (also known as version 2.8) machine to use with my SB-MXI board. After following the correct procedure, I attempt to initialize the SB-MXI board using the vxiinit command. When I do so I get the following error: error: NI-VXI device driver not foundHow can I fix this problem? Solution: Solaris 8 (or 2.8) can be run using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the kernel, however it defaults into the 64-bit mode. NI-VXI 2.2 is the latest driver for sbmxi on Solaris 2.x. Since this driver was created for the older SB technology, it will only operate in the 32-bit kernel context. As such, there is a boot time configuration that must be selected to force the OS to boot into the 32-bit mode. After ensuring that the system is running in 32-bit mode, the "vxiinit" command should execute correctly and initialize the SB-MXI board.
