Can Switch Executive Connect One Row of a 2-Wire Matrix to Two Different Channels of a 1-Wire Switch?Primary Software: Switch ExecutivePrimary Software Version: 1.0.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software:
Problem: If you have a SPST relay in front of the rows or colums of a 2-wire Matrix, can Switch Executive handle the conncetions directly from the channels of the SPST switch module to the 2 wire Matrix (i.e, ch0 of SwitchA connected to row0+ of SwitchB, and ch1 of SwitchA connected to row0- of SwitchB) Solution: No. Switch Executive groups together the terminals of the 2-wire row and identifies them as rowX (rather than splitting them into rowX+ and rowXx-). Therefore, it cannot connect rowX+ to one 1-wire channel and rowX- to a different 1-wire channel. However, there is a workaround: Instead of asking Switch Executive to connect a 2-wire row to two 1-wire channels, you can physically make the connections (e.g. terminal SwitchA ch0 to SwitchB row0+ and SwitchA ch1 to SwitchB row0-) and control the connections between the two switches by opening/closing the 1-wire channel relays (SwitchA ch0 and SwitchA ch1). You could even set up a route for each of the SwitchA relays: one route to connect ch0 to com0 (effectively connecting to ch 0 of SwitchA to SwitchB row0+ due to the physical connection) and a second route to connect ch1 to com1 (effectively connecting ch 1 of switchA to SwitchB row0- due to the physical connection). Then you could either call these routes individually or group them into a route group so that you could open/close both relays at the same time. For further information on how to create routes and route groups in Switch Executive, please see the Switch Executive Getting Started Guide linked below.
