How Can I Access the Second Drive on a NI Real-Time Controller Through Internet Explorer or MAX?

Problem: How can I access the second drive on a NI Real-Time Controller Through Internet Explorer or MAX?

Solution: NI Real-Time controllers with LabVIEW Real-Time 7.0 can have the C: and D: drive directly accessed over FTP.

To FTP into a Real-Time controller through Internet Explorer, use the following syntax :ftp://ip_address/. This URL will take you to the C drive of the controller.

To access the compact flash memory allocated in the D drive, use the following syntax ftp://ip_address/d:/

In Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)

  • Expand Remote Systems
  • Right-Click on the controller you want to access
  • Enter /d:/ in Current Remote Directory

Note:This knowledgebase applies to RT devices that physically have multiple drives. It is does not work for drives with multiple partitions.
