What is the Purpose of the "Activate Additional Features" Button for Motion in MAX?Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-Motion/FlexMotionPrimary Software Version: 7.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Motion Control>>Controllers>>NI SoftMotion Controller for CANopen, Motion Control>>Controllers>>NI SoftMotion Controller for IEEE 1394, Motion Control>>Controllers>>SoftMotion PCI CANopen Controllers, Motion Control>>Controllers>>SoftMotion PXI CANopen Controllers
Problem: I have installed NI-Motion 7.0 on my system and I have inserted my PCI 7344. I am exploring the different options and settings available to me in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). When I select my motion controller and navigate through the General, Firmware, Onboard Memory Manager, and Status tabs, I noticed that there is a button at the top of the window that is labeled "Activate Additional Features." What is the purpose of this button? Do I have to activate my installation of NI-Motion? Solution: This button is specifically for use with NI SoftMotion Controllers. It is used to activate the SoftMotion Controller software and add axes once this software has been activated. This button should not be used for NI-Motion plug-in boards (PCI/PXI 733x, 734x, 735x) as it provides no functionality for those devices. The NI-Motion driver for these boards does not require activation.
