Lookout Process not Updating the .lks File

Primary Software: Lookout
Primary Software Version: 6.0.2
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: I have a Lookout process. When I save it, only the .l4p file is updated. The .lks file is not updated and thus I cannot recompile the code into a new version.

Solution: One reason Lookout does not save the .lks file is if the process was write protected with the Protect file from editing with you account name/password option in the save dialog. Refer to the image to see the location of the checkbox. Uncheck this box in order to begin saving the .lks again.

If the box is greyed out, you must be logged into the account it was created on to disable the write protection.

To create an account, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new user which has a password defined. Then click on the Group button and add Administrators or System Operators to the group list
  2. Log in with the user name and non-empty password, and select File » Save As from the menu.
  3. Check the Protect file from editing with your account name/password box at the bottom of the dialog box to save the file with your password as protection.
  4. To edit the file again, log in under the same account with the same password.
