NI-VXI 2.1a for VXI-1394 for Windows NT is needed for Solectron 403A (VXI-1394)Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>VXI Interfaces>>VXI-1394
Problem: I just received a new VXI-1394 board (Solectron 403A), but I previously had NI-VXI 2.1 for VXI-1394 for Windows NT installed on the same computer. Do I need to uninstall NI-VXI 2.1 and install the driver that was shipped with the board? Solution: No, you could replace the wn1394.sys installed on your computer with the one attached. The order to do this would be to save the old file with a new name, replace the file, and reboot the computer. It file can be found on your computer at C:\WINNT\system32\drivers. (It is always a good idea to save a copy of the old file just in case) If you don't feel like manually replacing the file, you could also uninstall NI-VXI and reinstall the driver from the CD. There are a couple errors you could possibly run into while completing this install. Here are those errors as well as what could possibly have caused the problem. 1. "Could not run SetupAux program (error {Windows error code}). Please refer to KnowledgeBase 3BEC2EFQ at http://www.ni.com/support/." This means the setup.exe and the "original" setup.exe (now called SetupAux.exe) are not in the same folder. You could have copied setup.exe to your hard drive and forgot to copy SetupAux.exe. To prevent this error from occurring copy the whole CD to your computer. 2. "Could not install Solectron 403A-compatible driver (error {Windows error code}). Please refer to KnowledgeBase 3BEC2EFQ at http://www.ni.com/support/." Replace the wn1394.sys file at this location C:\WINNT\system32\drivers with the attached wn1394.sys file.
