Issues When Accessing an RT Target with a Locked System Configuration with LabWindows/CVI Real-Time Primary Software: LabWindows/CVI Add-ons>>Real-Time ModulePrimary Software Version: 8.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have configured my remote RT system through Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and locked the system configuration so nobody can edit my settings. However, I am unable to access the RT target through CVI and I received several error messages when I try. What's going on? Solution: Currently as of the LabWindows/CVI 8.5 Real-Time Module, you cannot access an RT target whose system configuration has been locked. In MAX, after you configure the remote system, you can lock the system configuration with a password to prevent others on your network from changing the configuration. To actually lock your system configuration, you:
After you have locked the system configuration, if you try and access the RT target through LabWindows/CVI, you will get several error messages depending upon your access method. If you try and select the RT target through Run » Switch Execution Target, you will receive the message: "LabWindows/CVI has received an invalid reply to a debugging message."
If you try and use the LabWindows/CVI Real-Time File Copy Utility, you will get a different message depending upon which IDE you are working from. If are in LabWindows/CVI 8.1, you will get the message: "FTP Command failed; try using InetFTPSetPassiveMode".
If you are in LabWindows/CVI 8.5, you will get the message: "Cannot communicate with the specified target. Confirm that the specified address is correct, the target is running, and the target has the LabWindows/CVI Run-Time Engine for RT installed. You can launch MAX and use the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard to install software on the real-time target." As of the LabWindows/CVI 8.5 Real-Time Module, the only workaround is to not lock the system configuration Related Links: KnowledgeBase 2XM94EW: How Do I Configure and Use Access Control Settings on a Real-Time Controller?
