Why do I receive a configuration error when using my IVI power supply in SignalExpress 2.5.0?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am using an Agilent agn5700 series power supply and when I try to run a step in SignalExpress to give my DC power supply a voltage I receive the configuration error:

ivi_IviDCPwr Configure Trigger Source [TRG].vi<ERR>
Driver Status:  (Hex 0xBFFA0010) Invalid value for parameter or property.

Primary Error: (Hex 0xBFFA0010) Invalid value for parameter or property.
Elaboration: Attribute: AGN5700_ATTR_TRIGGER_SOURCE, Channel: 1

My power supply does not use triggers to output a voltage. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Solution:
If you add the step in SignalExpress:

Add Step >> Generate Signals >> IVI Generate >> IVI Power Supply

There will be four tabs for this configuration, Output, Configuration, Trigger and Execution Control. If you select the trigger tab it will look as if you must have a trigger to send to your power supply.

If you have Signal Express 2.5.1 there is an option called Trigger Generation that you can disable so you will not have to send a trigger to turn on the output of your power supply. If you are using SignalExpress 2.5.0 you will have to send a trigger.

Workaround:

1. Download SignalExpress 2.5.1 from www.ni.com/support as this option has been added to disable triggering.

2. If you are not able to download the latest version you can simply set up a software trigger with a trigger source of A. Start your program and hit the Trigger A button at the top of SignalExpress.

This has been noticed as a problem with Agilent 5700 series Power supplies using the IVI driver agn5700.
