Setting Up the SCC-ACC01 in a Dual-Stage Configuration

Hardware: SCC>>Carriers>>SC-2345

Problem: I have an SCC-ACC01 (formerly SCC-Integrated Circuit Piezoelectric01) and an SCC-LP0X lowpass filter module. I want to setup the SCC-ACC01 in a dual-stage configuration.

When I try to configure the SC-2345 in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) I get an error stating that the SCC-ACC01 is not allowed in the first stage of a dual-stage configuration.

Solution: The SCC-ACC01 module can be the first stage of a dual-stage configuration. However, this configuration is not supported by MAX 3.0 and earlier. To take a measurement with the SCC-ACC01 in a dual-stage configuration, skip the SC-2345 configuration in MAX. Read the raw voltage from the SCC-ACC01 channel and scale it with the following formula:
  1. Measure the accelerometer voltage.

    1. Read the accelerometer channel on the E Series DAQ device VESERIES (CHX).

    2. Calculate the accelerometer voltage using this formula: VACC = VESERIES /2

      • VACC is the SCC-ACC01 input voltage.

      • VESERIES is the E Series DAQ device input voltage.

  2. Use scaling constants obtained from the sensor data sheet to convert VACC voltage to the desired unit, such as newtons, m/s2, or g.
