GPIB-ENET/100 Direct Connection to a Host Computer Without Using a NetworkHardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-ENET
Problem: I would like to connect my GPIB-ENET/100 directly to a host computer without using a DHCP Server or an IP Address assigned through a network. Is this possible? Solution: Yes, but a crossover ethernet cable or an ethernet hub is required. With a crossover cable, the transmit and receive lines are reversed, and you can connect directly from the host computer to the GPIB-ENET/100 box. With an ethernet hub, connect the computer to the hub using a standard ethernet cable. Then, connect the GPIB-ENET/100 box to the hub using a second ethernet cable. To configure the GPIB-ENET/100, first determine the subnet mask and IP address of the host computer. The GPIB-ENET/100 User Manual (linked below) describes how to configure the software for the GPIB-ENET/100 box. A crossover ethernet cable is available from National Instruments (part number 187375-0X). Related Links: Products and Services: Ethernet Cable NI GPIB-ENET/100 - Product Manuals Attachments:
