Can I Create and Use VISA Aliases for My Instrument Simulator 2.0 in Multi-Instrument Mode?

Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation Explorer
Primary Software Version: 1.0.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>Support Products>>NI Instrument Simulator

Problem:
I have the NI Instrument Simulator 2.0.  Is it possible for me to create a VISA alias for each separate instrument while I am configured in multi-instrument mode?

Solution:
Yes, this is possible.  You can follow the steps below to do this:
  1. Ensure that the Instrument Simulator is configured in multi-instrument mode by launching the NI Instrument Simulator Wizard from Start»Programs»National Instruments»Instrument Simulator and following the steps in the wizard.
  2. Open Measurement & Automation Explorer.
  3. Right click the GPIB device section under the Devices and Interfaces Tab and select Scan for Instruments.
  4. The three instruments will appear under the GPIB device.
  5. Click each instrument separately and enter in the alias in the VISA Alias on My System box.
  6. Click Save to save the configuration.

The different aliases for each instrument can now be used in your application, for instance, in the Instrument I/O Assistant within LabVIEW.
