Performing a Self-Calibration on a NI 6143 Does Not Work Immediately After a Device Reset

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>S Series>>PCI-6143

Problem: I have a NI 6143 which I just purchased from National Instruments and when I ran it through Calibration Executive to verify the performance, it failed the "Verify Only" step. Why did this happen?

Solution: There is a known issue with performing a DAQmx Self Cal immediately after a Device Reset with DAQmx 8.2 and earlier. This issue causes the self calibration routine to sometimes not properly finish.

Calibration Executive does use this sequence of calls for the NI 6143 and this is why the board will fail the verification routine. This issue has been resolved in DAQmx 8.3 and later. See the link below to install the latest version of DAQmx.

If your application uses this sequences of calls and cannot be upgraded to DAQmx 8.3 or later, you can work around the problem by performing a hardware timed acquisition before the self calibration.
