Error 1911: Could Not Register cwui.ocx on Windows 7

Issue Details

Why do I get Error 1911.  Could not register type library for file C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cwui.ocx. Contact your support personnel when trying to install or repair Measurement Studio or LabVIEW Developer Suite on Windows 7?

Solution

You may continue the installation by clicking Ignore, and registering cwui.ocx after the installation completes.

To register cwui.ocx, follow these steps:
  1. Go to the Start button, click in the search area and type command prompt.
  2. From the search list, right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
  3. Type Regsvr32.exe cwui.ocx into the prompt and hit Enter
  4. A popup should confirm the registration is successful.

Additional Information

Windows 7 relies on having the appropriate permissions to run different programs.  In particular, when installing or repairing NI products you must be logged in an as an Administrator.  This error is caused because this part of the installer was not granted Administrator privileges, and could not edit the registry.
