Request Definitions for the G Web Server Log

Primary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>Internet Developers Toolkit
Primary Software Version: 6.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: I am using the G Web Server in the LabVIEW Internet Developers Toolkit, and when I view the G Web Server window in detailed mode, there is a log displaying the most recent server requests (such as GET, POST, etc.). Where did these server request codes come from and what do they mean?

Solution: The server requests in the G Web Server log represent specific requests that clients have made to the server. The request names actually correspond to the common methods of Hypertext Transfer Protocol 1.1 (HTTP 1.1). There are 8 common methods and they are listed below:

OPTIONS
GET
HEAD
POST
PUT
DELETE
TRACE
CONNECT

Definitions for these methods can be found in any decent HTTP textbook or tutorial, but a great online resource is linked in the Related Links section.
