Why Does It Take So Long to Compile an FPGA VI for a cRIO in Hybrid Mode?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>FPGA Module
Primary Software Version: 8.6
Primary Software Fixed Version: 8.6
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: CompactRIO

Problem:
I have a cRIO set up such that some of my modules are utilizing the Scan Mode and some of my modules have custom code written in an FPGA VI.  My project looks similar to the one pictured below with some modules under the RT Target and some modules under the FPGA Target.  The custom code for my FPGA VI is very simple but the compile time is much longer than I would have expected. Why does it take so long to compile?

Solution:
The custom code you develop in LabVIEW is added in with the Rio Scan Interface (RSI). The two are then compiled together to make one bitfile for your FPGA target. For the details of this process please see the below links.
