Why Do I Receive Internal Software Error -61499 When Compiling my FlexRIO FPGA VI for an NI 6587?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>LabVIEW FPGA Module
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-RIO
Hardware: Reconfigurable I/O (RIO)

Problem:
I am compiling an FPGA VI for a FlexRIO target with an NI 6587 FlexRIO Adapter Module. During placing and routing, I receive the following error:

LabVIEW FPGA: An internal software error in the LabVIEW FPGA Module has occurred. Please contact National Instruments technical support at ni.com/support.

When I click the Details button, I receive the following message:

Error -61499 occurred at
niFpgaCompileWorker_AnalyzeTimingViolations.vi <- niFpgaCompileWorker_AnalyzeTimingPaths.vi <- niFpgaCompileWorker_CheckForErrors.vi <- niFpgaCompileWorker_JobComplete.vi <- niFpgaCompile_Worker.vi:1

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW FPGA: An internal software error in the LabVIEW FPGA Module has occurred. Please contact National Instruments technical support at ni.com/support.

Additional Information: There is no error path

Return Code: -3001

How do I resolve this error?

Solution:
The error is caused by in internal bug in the Xilinx ISE 12.4 compile tools used by LabVIEW 2011. The failure only occurs when using custom socketed Component-Level IP (CLIP) with global clock rates greater than 400MHz. The error will not occur when using the shipping CLIP for the NI 6587.

In order to work around the issue, you will need to use a global clock slower than 400MHz or compile the project using LabVIEW 2010, which uses the Xilinx ISE 11.5 compile tools.
