Using CompaqDAQ with DAQ Signal Accessory

Problem:
I'm trying to use the DAQ & Signal Conditioning course with a CompactDAQ setup.  The instructions reference connecting the CompaqDAQ to a DAQ Signal Accessory.  A DAQ Signal Accessory is powered by a 68-pin cable and many of the signals referenced are internally wired and are only connected through the 68-pin female 0.050 series D-type connector, how can I use the DAQ Signal Accessory with this course?

Solution:
To use a CompaqDAQ system with the DAQ signal Accessory it is necessary to use the DAQ Signal Accessory Daughter Card to power the Signal Accessory and break out the internal signals.  The daughter card breaks out the 68-pin female 0.050 series D-type connector on the signal accessory to gain access to the following pins that are not directly available to the user. 
  • +5V DC input
  • LED0, LED1, LED2, LED3
  • Relay
  • Up/Down
  • Digital Trigger
  • Digital Ground
  • Thermocouple connector (TC+, TC-)
  • On board temperature sensor
  • Microphone: MIC
The daughter card provides a +5VDC power supply to the DAQ Signal Accessory, powering the device.  Beyond providing access to the above onboard devices, powering the signal accessory also enables the use of the onboard sine wave generator, square wave generator and quadrature encoder.

If you would like to purchase a DAQ Signal Accessory Daughter Card please contact your local field sales engineer and reference Part Number: 198821A-01.  This product is currently unavailable for purchase on National Instruments' website.

It should be noted that if you do not have a DAQ Signal Accessory, it is possible to replicate its functionality with a few LEDs and a function generator.
