Problem: I have downloaded an IVI driver from National Instruments website and I want to open the Getting Started VI. While opening the VI, it asks me to find the driver DLL. I find the file in my C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation directory, but it gives me the message A secondary DLL could not be found and the VI doesn't open properly. Solution: The error message occurs because you do not have the NI IVI Engine installed on your computer. After you find the driver DLL, you receive the message because it is calling a DLL that is not present on your computer, most likely the NI IVI Compliance Package or NI-VISA. You will need all of the software and DLL files that are required by the instrument driver before you can use it. The instrument driver download page provides the software requirements for the particular instrument driver you are using.
