IVI Shared Components and How To Uninstall

Problem:
The IVI Shared Components are installed as part of IVI Compliance Package 2.0. What are they and why do I need them?

Solution:
The IVI Shared Components are owned and distributed by the IVI Foundation. These components form the underlying structure of an IVI-compliant system. Because the IVI Compliance Package components are designed to work with the IVI Shared Components, the IVI Shared Components are installed as part of the IVI Compliance Package. The IVI Foundation considers the IVI Shared Components system components, and as such, you cannot uninstall them using the standard Windows uninstall process.

After you uninstall the IVI Compliance Package, IVI Shared Components remain on the system. To remove the remaining components, you must run the IVI Foundation IVI Shared Component Cleanup Utility. Please refer to the IVI Foundation web site for the Cleanup utility and more information on Shared Components.
