Maximum Voltage When Using the SCXI-1180/1181 Hardware: SCXI>>Custom Modules and Terminal Blocks>>SCXI-1180, SCXI>>Custom Modules and Terminal Blocks>>SCXI-1181, SCXI>>Terminal Blocks>>SCXI-1302
Problem: What is the maximum voltage the SCXI-1180 or SCXI-1181 can handle? Solution: The SCXI-1180/1181 User Manual, p28, has the following warning: Warning: The SCXI-1181 is not intended for use with hazardous voltages (voltages exceeding 42 Vrms). You assume all risk associated with user-installed circuitry. National Instruments is not liable for any damages or injuries resulting from improper installation. Although this specifically refers to the SCXI-1181, it can be applied in general, therefore the maximum voltage the SCXI-1180 and SCXI-1181 can handle is 42Vrms. Note: Although the SCXI-1180/1181 can handle 42Vrms, DO NOT exceed the voltage input for your DAQ card. For example, if you are using a PCI-6220 which has a maximum input of +/-10V, this should be the maximum voltage used for the SCXI-1180/1181. The SCXI-1180/1181 is simply a feedthrough module, and therefore will not do prevent damage to a DAQ card if the maximum input voltage range for the DAQ cards is exceeded. Related Links: Attachments:
