Error -1074115640: Device Identifier Is Not Specified in List Entry

Issue Details

  • I am using the NI-SWITCH Connect Multiple VI in LabVIEW. This always produces error -1074115640. If I use the NI-SWITCH Connect Single VI, there is no error. Why is this happening?
  • I am using the NI-SWITCH API and I am running into the error below:

Error -1074115640 occurred at niSwitch Get Attribute

Possible reason(s):
Device identifier not specified in the list entry.

Status Code: -200055 
Press Continue to go to the device selection menu to select a different device.

Press Stop to terminate the application.
 

 



 

Solution

This can occur when the device Name specified in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) contains an invalid character such as a hyphen (-).

Removing this hyphen or invalid character will resolve this error. Refer to How Do I Find or Modify My Device's Name? for instructions.
