Uninstalling Measurement Studio 7.1 Deletes StdOLE Type Library PrimaryInteropAssemblyName Registry Key

Problem: When you uninstall Measurement Studio 7.1, the registry values pertaining to the Standard OLE Primary Interop are removed (ie. HKCR\TypeLib\{00020430-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\2.0\PrimaryInteropAssemblyName
is deleted).

This causes Visual Studio applications that reference OLE Automation (stdole) through COM to not build properly.

Solution:
  • Run the attached registry file (STDOLS_PIA_Fixup.reg) to fix the issue.

  • Also use included EXE inside the ZIP file to verify the primary interop assembly (PIA) is installed, registered, and can be used to access stdole.dll.
