When I Run the NI435X Getting Started Example I Receive an Error Referring to the Accessory

Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices

Problem:
When I run the NI435X Getting Started example, I receive Error -1306 that is explained as NI435X Check Accessory.  What causes this and how do I fix it?

Solution:
The accessory connected to the 435x needs to be configured in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) to support many of the functions that the 435x example relies on.  You will need to define the accessory in MAX before you can use the Getting Started examples.

To configure the accessory, do the following:

  1. Open MAX and press F5 to refresh the list of devices
  2. Expand the Devices and Interfaces tab and select Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices
  3. Right-click on the 435x board and select Properties...

  4. Select the Accessory tab
  5. Select your accessory by name in the drop down box.
  6. Select OK

Your 435x device is now properly configured with the appropriate accessory and the Getting Started example will run successfully.
