Can I Create a Global Virtual Channel Out of an Internal NI-DAQmx Channel?

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 9.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I would like to use an Internal DAQmx channel in an NI-DAQmx Global Virtual Channel.  Is this possible, and if so, how?

Solution:
Creating an NI-DAQmx Global Virtual Channel out of an Internal DAQmx channel is something that was not previously possible in older versions of NI-DAQmx.  However, using NI-DAQmx 9.0 and later, you can create an Internal DAQmx channel in LabVIEW and save it as an NI-DAQmx Global Virtual Channel programmatically.

Accomplishing this is not possible when creating your Global Virtual Channel in Measurement & Automation Explorer; it must be done programmatically.

The following VI Snippet shows how to accomplish this.  To begin using this code, you can drag and drop this VI Snippet from Internet Explorer into LabVIEW.

Please note that on the front panel of your VI, you will need to right click on the Physical Channel control and select  I/O Name Filtering, then check Internal Channels.
