Upgrading SignalExpress Tektronix Edition to LabVIEW SignalExpress Results in Limited Functionality

Primary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I own SignalExpress Tektronix Edition (or SignalExpress 1.2). I recently installed some National Instruments software and upgraded my version of SignalExpress from the Tektronix Edition to the newest version, LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5. After the upgrade, I tried to use my SignalExpress Tektronix Edition serial number to activate LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 and it did not work. I had full functionality of the product for 30 days, and now I see a message stating that my trial period of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 Full Edition is over and I now have LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 Limited Edition. What happened and how do I get back all of the functionality I had in the SignalExpress Tektronix Edition?

Solution:
If you installed a version of LabVIEW, NI-DAQmx, or the NI Driver CD from August 2007 or later, your version of SignalExpress may have been upgraded from SignalExpress Tektronix Edition to the new LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5.  During the installation you had the option to de-select installation of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5, but by default this option is selected.  The full functionality of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 should have been available for 30 days along with your Tektronix steps.  After the 30 day trial of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 Full Edition expires, you can choose one of the following options to continue using your SignalExpress Tektronix Edition steps:

  • Upgrade to LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 Full and Retain Tektronix Edition Steps
You can choose to upgrade to LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 and still retain your Tektronix Edition steps.  If you installed LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 from a LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 installation CD, your product came with an activation code that you can use at any time to activate the full product.  If you do not have an activation code for LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5, you can contact NI to upgrade to the full edition of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5.

  • Uninstall LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 and Retain Tektronix Edition Steps
If you do not want to use any of the functionality introduced in LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5, you can uninstall LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 and reinstall SignalExpress Tektronix Edition.  You will then be able to use your old serial number to reactivate the product.

  • Continue Using LabVIEW Signal Express 2.5 Limited Edition with Tektronix Edition Steps
If you do not want to upgrade to LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 Full Edition, you can continue to use LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 Limited Edition and will not need to register LabVIEW SignalExpress. You will retain the Tektronix Edition steps, but much of the other functionality that you had available in the Tektronix Edition is not available in the Limited Edition of LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5.
