GPIB-USB-B No Longer Functions After Cycling the Power or Disconnecting the Instrument

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: 2.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-USB

Problem: My GPIB-USB-B device was working fine. When I turned off the power of the connected GPIB instrument and turned it back on, the GPIB-USB-B stopped working. I have tried to use other GPIB instruments, but the device still will not work.

Solution: If the GPIB-USB-B appears affected by this problem, the solution is to unplug it from the USB port, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.

The above issue will only occur if the GPIB instrument is disconnected from the GPIB-USB-B device. It is not recommended to perform the following sequence of actions:
  1. Power down or disconnect devices from the GPIB interface
  2. Perform GPIB traffic
  3. Connect and power up devices to the GPIB interface again.
If you need to power down or disconnect devices, do not attempt to perform any GPIB communication until you have finished connecting and powering up the devices you will access.
