HMI Adapter for Using the Siemens S7 PLC with Lookout

Problem: What cable do I need to use to connect my Siemens S7 PLC for use with Lookout?

Solution: Siemens originally designed a 9600 baud cable for the S7 PLC, which is the one that National Instruments built its Lookout S7 driver around. When Siemens released the PLC they used a 125000 baud cable, which the NI driver does not work with.
In order to successfully interface Lookout with the Siemens S7 PLC, an HMI adapter with the following Siemens part no. is required:

6ES7972 - OCA11 - OXAO (SCPLN307900)

This will automatically default to the 9600 com speed that the Lookout S7 driver uses. This is not the same device as what is commonly known as an MPI cable. The MPI cable is normally supplied as the programming cable with the S7 PLC's.
