What Software Do I Need to use the UNIX Console Target?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Embedded Development Module
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Microprocessor SDK

Problem:
I am using the LabVIEW Embedded Development Module, and I would like to use the UNIX Console shipping example. What additional software and/or configuration do I need in order to use this target?

Solution:
The LabVIEW Embedded Development Module requires a 3rd party toolchain in order to compile and run the LabVIEW generated C Code. In the case of the UNIX Console shipping example target, the 3rd party toolchain is gcc and it is run from the Cygwin environment.

Installation and configuration instructions are as follows:

  1. Install Cygwin as directed in the following url (pay close attention to the additional packages that must be selected - gcc, make, sharutils, tclck, wget):

    http://ecos.sourceware.org/cygwin.html

  2. Add Cygwin to the PATH System Variable
    1. Start » Settings » Control Panel and select System.
    2. Under the Advanced Tab click the Environment Variables button and edit the PATH "System Variable" by highlighting it and clicking the Edit button.
    3. Append C:\cygwin\bin; to the PATH System Variable in your Windows Environment Variables
