What versions of DAQmx work with the NI ELVISmx driver? Solution: 1. How do I setup the NI ELVIS II/II+? The NI ELVIS II and II+ are both USB plug and play. As soon as you plug in the device, it is automatically detected and can be used with the Instrument Launcher, LabVIEW and Multisim immediately. 2. Are the protoboards hot-swappable? There are two power switches on the NI ELVIS Unit. One for the workstation, located on the back of the NI ELVIS platform and one for the prototyping board, located on top of the NI ELVIS platform. The protoboard is NOT hot swappable! Before removing or replacing the prototyping board, be sure to turn off the protoboard power switch. 3. Can I use my NI ELVIS I protoboard with my new NI ELVIS II or II+ unit? The NI ELVIS I protoboard can be used with the NI ELVIS II or II+ unit. Some of the signal connections are different, but you can reference the pinouts of the NI ELVIS I and II to find out how those pins translate. 4. Where are the fuses? The only user-servicable fuse protects high-current signals such as those used with the DMM. The fuse is accessed and replaced differently for the NI ELVIS I versus the NI ELVIS II/II+. Detailed instructions are in the user manuals for the NI ELVIS I unit and for the NI ELVIS II/II+ units. 5. What versions of DAQmx work with the NI ELVISmx driver? In order to install NI ELVISmx 4.1, you must first have NI-DAQmx 8.9 installed or choose the option to install NI-DAQmx 8.9 with the NI ELVISmx 4.1 driver. NI ELVISmx installs on top of the NI-DAQmx driver.
