Configuring Axis Resources for a Motion Dual-Loop Feedback System

Hardware: Motion Control>>Power Drives>>MID-7654, Motion Control>>Controllers>>PCI-7340, Motion Control>>Controllers>>PCI-7350

Problem:
I would like to use dual encoders, but I only have two axes on my MID. Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) defaults dual encoding to Axis 1 and 3, but I need to figure my second feedback encoder to a different axis on my UMI. Is this possible?

Solution:
In MAX, you cannot specify which lines the encoders are routed to; however, there is a LabVIEW VI that allows the user to manually assign which lines to be used for feedback on each axis. The Configure Axis Resources.flx function offers the following inputs/outputs:
  • Board ID
  • axis
  • primary feedback
  • secondary feedback
  • primary output
  • secondary output
  • Bd ID out
  • resource output
  • error handling
Please use the image attached as a resource for appropriately wiring the function.
