Creating Icons for Use in TestStandPrimary Software: TestStandPrimary Software Version: 3.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have created a bmp file and changed the extension to .ico, but TestStand does not recognize this as an icon or my icon appears distorted. Why? Solution: This is a common misconception about .ico files. Most of the time a bmp can not simply be renamed .ico and be used for icons. There are special icon programs to create and edit .ico files. It is also common for icon editors to be bundled with other large scale development programs (LabVIEW, Visual Studio, etc). These icon editors save the file in the correct format that is recognized as an icon in TestStand. Also when creating an icon for use in TestStand, you must remember a few rules about icons in general. Otherwise, your icons may appear distorted.
Once you've established these key points as being true, just place the icon in the <TestStand>\Components\User\Icons where <TestStand> is your install directory for TestStand.Related Links: KB 41DI2DXT: Why do my icons appear half grey in the TestStand sequence editor? Attachments:
