Error 1003 with Test Executive Launcher

Primary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>Test Executive
Primary Software Version: 5.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems

Problem: I get the following error message:

A subvi, Type definition, or external subroutine is missing or inconsistent with the current vi.

Error 1003 occured at Test Executive launcher failed to launch the test Executive operator interface vi.

Why does this occur, and how can I fix the problem?

Solution: This error message is encountered when you try to launch the Test Executive (TE) Run Time System (RTS). The cause for this error message is that the VIs that are being loaded, and the VIs that make up the Run Time System are from different versions of LabVIEW. This problem only appears in the LabVIEW (LV) version of the Test Executive. Each time you upgrade LabVIEW you will need to install a new version of the RTS for TE.

In order to make sure that the new version of the RTS will work for you, you should first do a mass compile in LabVIEW on all of the VIs in the LVTE51 directory (the sub-directory of LabVIEW that the TE was installed to):
  1. From the Files menu, select Mass compile, this will cause a file dialog box to appear.
  2. Navigate to the LVTE51 directory and open it.
  3. Press the Select Cur Dir button to select it and to begin the mass compile.
  4. After the files finish compiling, close the file dialog box.
This will ensure that all of the VIs are in the same version of LabVIEW. You will also need to mass compile all of the VIs that you are using in your sequence file. Once this is done, please download the correct version of the RTS for TE (the link is provided below). The file you need for your corresponding version of LabVIEW is as follows:

tert4.01.zip for LabVIEW 4.0.1
tert501.zip for LabVIEW 5.0.1
tert501f1.zip for LabVIEW 5.0.1f1
tert501ts1.zip for LabVIEW 5.0.1ts1

Note: The errors should only be received, if you are using LabVIEW 5.01, 5.01f1, or 5.01ts1 (Test Executive 5.1 ships ready to work with LabVIEW 5.0).
