What Are The Coaxial Cable Requirements For A GPIB-110?

Hardware: GPIB>>Support Products>>GPIB-110

Problem: The GPIB-110 requires a cable capacitance of 56.8pF/m and an attenuation of 0.023 dB/m for a distance of up to 1000m. If a particular cable's capacitance and/or attenuation is higher, then that cable must be equivalently shorter than 1000m.

Solution: National Instruments recommends an RG-6/U cable. This cable is not the same as the RG-59 cable that most people are accustomed to, and it is also not as common. Both are 75 ohm cables, but at long distances the RG-59 cable will not function the same as the RG-6/U cable.

Either use a cable provided by National Instruments or use a shorter cable.
