The USB-1359 and Windows Vista 64

Hardware: Switches>>Switch Controllers>>4 Slot USB Mainframe

Problem:

When I plug a USB-1359 into my Windows Vista 64 machine, a message pops up asking for the device's drivers. The operating system recognizes the device by name and asks for driver software for the NI-USB 1359. Can I use this device even though the readme does not list support for Vista 64?

Solution:

No. The USB-1359 works with Vista 32, but it is not intended to work with Vista 64. To prevent Vista 64 users from installing the USB-1359, we removed its Vista 64 support from NI-Switch. The operating system is able to recognize the device's name and manufacturer because it can access this information from the USB-1359 hardware. The USB-1359 will not function with Vista 64, and even though its device name appears, it cannot be used under this operating system.
